A Little Bit About Me…
Marcus Torzi
Born in the Barossa Ranges to a family steeped in winemaking and good food, I was raised on the belief that less is more. This is wine made with purpose-not to impress, but to connect.
Wine was just part of life growing up. My parents, Domenic Torzi and Tracy Matthews, are both winemakers, so our home was always full of conversation about food, soil, and vintage conditions—and plenty of shared bottles. It wasn’t about luxury or show, just a way of connecting. That early exposure taught me a lot about what matters — not just in wine, but in the way you approach life: with respect, with patience, and a bit of curiosity.
I’m currently in my third year of a Bachelor of Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Adelaide, and from day one it felt like the right fit. It’s the perfect mix of everything I’m passionate about—science, sensory detail, problem solving, and of course, the hands-on side of growing and making wine. There’s something deeply satisfying about taking something elemental, like grapes and dirt , and guiding it into something expressive and alive. For me, the best wines are the ones that feel honest. Not overworked or overthought—just true to their place.
That’s really the philosophy behind Whispers of Chaos. I started the label in 2024 with two small releases: a red blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, and a white made from Roussanne, Riesling and Semillon. These wines are personal. They represent not only what I’ve learned so far, but what I value—restraint, structure, clarity, and wines that belong on the table.
At the end of the day, I don’t make wine to chase scores or gold medals. I make wine to be opened. To be shared over a good meal, with people you actually like being around. Wines that don’t try too hard—but still leave a mark.
“Whispers of Chaos is for those who listen closer.
It’s wine made with intention, to be part of real moments-not just cellared stories.”
